Hi friends,

I am looking for advice regards my 1637 P/T tables and the best way to clean them. The tables are not shiny aluminium as the tables on the 635 are, but have a grey colouration to them. Is it best to leave this surface in place and just use thinners to clean the tables, or to pass through this layer to clean metal and then wax? Any help is appreciated as I can no advice in the UK.

Hello,

Is there a grey deposit on the wood as well, or only the color of the table is worrying you ?

For the latter, I would say keep as is, and use some paraffin (candle) or some dedicated product (Silbergleit... )

If you have a deposit, it seems some 000 steel wool and some WD40 and/or equivalent can help you, and then degrease and go back to paeaffir/Silbergleit...

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. There are no marking left on the wood. I thought initially that colour may have been oxidation, but I have read that these tables may have a special surface on them? Unfortunately they are quite heavily marked in places so I wanted to get them looking great again and I was going to use the method used in this thread as a guide, but stopped before I went too far to seek advice.

It dépends greatly if you want a working machine, or a shiny working machine

You could try some 00 steel wool... Or leave as is.

It seem's to be very clean like that ! Don't forget to protect it (with Silbergleit or other) cause it can rust very quick after sanding or steel wool polish.

Il y avait un vendeur sur LBC qui possédait un gros stock de pièces détachées Kity. Apparemment, quelqu'un a racheté le stock complet mais le compte de vendeur sur LBC semble toujours actif.
